I’m Lauren Hines, a cinematographer, camera operator, and video editor based in Southern California. My love for visual storytelling started early, first in middle school, where I realized how much I enjoyed creating little films with intention, and then in a broadcast class in high school that showed me the craft behind the camera. That spark carried me to San Diego State University, where I deepened my skills and began shaping the technical and creative foundation I still rely on today.
I’m drawn to clean composition, expressive lighting, and the subtle choices that guide how a story feels. Whether I’m operating a camera on a commercial set or crafting a narrative in the edit, I focus on creating work that blends artistry and clarity.
My experience spans commercial, narrative, and educational content, and I’ve worked in roles across the production pipeline: Cinematographer, Camera Operator, Editor, 1st/2nd AC, and DIT. That range helps me see the big picture of how a project comes together and makes me equally comfortable shaping light, managing media, or solving a problem moments before a shoot.
Editing has been a major part of my journey as well, starting back when Final Cut 7 was cool. I’ve produced everything from short branded spots to long-form instructional content, developing a strong sense of pacing, color, and workflow design. I work primarily in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve, and I’m passionate about creating systems and visuals that feel seamless to the viewer.
At my core, I’m someone who cares deeply about craft. I love the mix of creativity and precision, dialing in a lighting setup, building a clean workflow, or choosing a frame that captures emotion without saying a word. My goal is always to create work that resonates, teaches, or inspires, no matter the format.
